I decided to share some things that I’ve drawn for my class. Hey, I know they’re aren’t graphics, but at least they’re something, right?
So, recently, for my figure composition class, we have another assignment of drawing a vignette. I would explain it in more detail, but I think it’d just make more sense if you looked it up yourself – it’s something that needs to be seen, in my opinion.
Anyhow, the emphasis for this assignment is Drapery… Given that I don’t really have a lot of personal experience with it, I was a bit hesitant at first. (Okay, I take that back. I did draw a study of drapery in my art class last semester, but hey – you can forget a lot in a semester…)
I actually wasn’t feeling too great that day, so I made the sketches in my sketchbook, and am planning on working on the composition later.
Here’s the sketches:
The first two were done in a 20 minute time span (individually) with Prismacolor pencil.

Study for the model’s pose and facial expression. It was hilarious – she looked completely bored out of her mind. Part of the annoying thing is that she kept on fidgeting…

Study of the folds. I wanted to capture the “draping” essence.
Edit: By the way, I know I elongated the model’s arm and leg. I wasn’t really checkpointing (a technique for drawing from a live model) when I should of…
And here’s the previous drawing that I did a while back.

This is actually draped on a mannequin, and I spent about 1 1/2 hours on it. It was pretty difficult.
Anyhow, that’s one of the things that is on my mind right now. I have 4 stinkin’ midterms next week. I”m…going to die (scholastically…not literally. Hopefully). I have to prepare myself for what’s to come!
